Privacy & cookies

Updated 20 October 2026. This page explains how information is used when you browse our guides, contact us or use the Race Atlas and Pack Planner.

Messages and corrections

If you email info@therunnersbackpack.com, we receive your email address, message and any details you include so we can handle your enquiry.

The Race Atlas correction form asks for an event, an explanation and an official source URL. Submissions are stored privately in WordPress for editorial review. A hashed network identifier is kept for up to one hour to limit repeated submissions. Please keep corrections focused on the event information.

Website and map services

Our hosting services process technical request information, such as your IP address, browser details and requested pages, to deliver and protect the website.

The Race Atlas loads map tiles from OpenFreeMap and Mapterhorn, its rendering library from unpkg and fonts from Google Fonts. These services receive ordinary web requests, including your network address. Our sources and map credits explain the map services and planning features.

Cookies and browser storage

WordPress uses cookies for administrator sign-in and related preferences. The Race Atlas saves up to six shortlisted race options in your browser’s local storage. Removing an option updates that copy; clearing the site’s browser data removes it.

Shared race links include the selected race identifiers or filters, so anyone with the link can open that selection. Pack Planner tick boxes stay on the current page and are not transmitted or included in shared links. Neither tool requires an account or location permission.

Google Search Console and PageSpeed Insights are connected through Site Kit for search and performance reporting. Google Analytics is not connected through Site Kit.

External retailers

Product links take you to retailers with their own privacy and cookie practices. We do not receive your payment details. Amazon links include an Associates tracking tag so qualifying purchases can be attributed to this site. See our affiliate disclosure for details.
