The Good: Lightweight, compact, minimal bounce.
The Bad: Straps were a little too long, and not able to tuck back into the belt.
The Medal Worthy: At its price point the two Ogres belt is a solid choice, but still needs some minor improvements to compete with brands like Nathan..
Full Review
We will be basing our review around the claims of the product description and how well each aspect performs. two Ogres lists the product as follows:
two Ogres Running Hydration Belt with Two 10oz BPA Free Leak Proof Bottles
We tested this running belt through the following activities:
- Walking
- Running (road)
- Hiking (at Cascade Lakes)
- Bike riding (road)
Design and Quality
The running belt consists of two 10 oz bottles and a center zippered pouch.
The zippered pouch is divided by a smaller elastic pouch, and also has a key strap. We didn’t use the key strap because the inner pouch seemed to hold them just fine.
Here’s what we put in the pouch:
- Samsung Galaxy S7
- Cherry Chapstick
- Gerber Paraframe Knife
- Keys and key fob
Everything fit good, and we still probably could have fit a small protein bar or energy bar.
There’s also a headphone cord on the front pocket, but we use wireless headphones when running, so we didn’t test this feature.
Another thing we liked is the gray mesh on the backside of the pocket (or inside of the belt), for a little more breathability during hotter months.
Both bottles use the standard pull up and squeeze tops. The first time we filled them up, one leaked slightly, but was easily fixed by removing and putting the top back on a little tighter.
The bottle holders have a firm plastic that fits tightly, which is perfect for reducing any bounce when running.
Comfort And Fit
Didn’t have any problems with the fit. The belt uses a standard three prong clip and is adjustable from either side.
The only problem we had was that the straps don’t tuck back into the belt if adjusted for smaller waists. See the picture below and you’ll notice the straps hanging past the loops. That is as far as the loops will go.
Update: two Ogres recommended “to fold the extra belt and then to tuck them into the loops,” as a solution to our issue mentioned above. (See the picture below)
We ended up preferring the pack with the bottles on the backside, but tested it both ways. It seemed to have a better fit, and less bounce with the clips in front.
Final Thoughts
two Ogres is a new brand for us, and a brand we’d recommend in the future. We’d like to see an improvement to the straps, but even other belts have the same issue. Overall, well built, solid hydration belt for runners.
