As technology increases it seems like we all have more and more stuff to carry around. Even a short run requires us to take things like iPhones, keys, and wallets with us sometimes. Enter the Nathan Shadow Pak Runners Pack.
- Perfect size storage for your iPhone and keys
- Secure fit that doesn’t bounce
- Easily adjustable and lightweight (you won’t know it’s there!)
- Available in multiple colors (see picture below)
- Mild skin irritation if you happen to run without a shirt
The Bottom Line
Sometimes the best things are the simplest things. Nathan does one thing very well with the Shadow Pak: they keep it simple. There is absolutely nothing fancy about this pack, but it works and that’s why we like it.

Comfort and Fit
Nathan utilizes a limited stretch fit waist band. Essentially this is a one size fits all running pack, and surprisingly the description holds true. Obviously there may be the rare occasion where this pack may not fit someone, but for the most part it’s going to fit just fine. We didn’t measure it exactly, nor did we find any information on the Nathan site, but it will most likely fit waist sizes around 27 to 47 inches.
Because it’s a one size fits all belt it will take a little bit of time to get it adjusted perfectly, and it may actually take several runs to really burn in a good fit, but after about a week you won’t even know it’s there.
There’s a single zippered pocket in front of the running pack that Nathan labels as a “Gusseted Power Stretch Mesh” pocket. What exactly does that mean? It’s actually pretty neat. Nathan understood that not everyone’s phone and/or keys were the same size so they created a pocket that can change sizes by stretching (slightly) to accommodate whatever you need to bring on your run.
The Shadow Pak features a neat little emergency information card that tucks right into the belt and out of your way during a run.
Also, if you take a look at the waistband you’ll notice some reflective strips and lining that add a bit of visibility for runners out at dusk or dawn. But you will still want some extra reflective gear.
